“SOLD” HAS A NEW MEANING

Woohoo, it’s finally Friday! I always look forward to Friday’s for several reasons but this one is a little different, and I was SO excited and nervous for it. I told y’all on Instagram that I had some huge news to share about Conner and I’s next journey, so thats what I’m dedicating this blog post about. PLUS this is my official ‘launch’ of All The B’s Wax blog being back in business. My thoughts are all over the place so I’m just going to post the picture and let that be the announcement… Hehe 🙂 I still cannot believe this is happening as I type this post. Anyone else feel like some of the most unexpected events happen and you question the timing or the purpose? This all happened so fast and so seamlessly that it all just made sense….Let me just tell y’all, GOD IS GOOD. GOD IS GREAT. AND GOD IS SO FAITHFUL.

DRUMROLL PLEASE…………………………..

CONNER AND I ARE BUYING A HOUSE!

I still cannot even take in the meaning of that yet- and I’ve had time to soak it in! LOL! So I know what you’re thinking… like what the heck? Why? When? How? What does this mean? Well I’m going to answer all of those questions, but first, WE ARE BUYING/BUILDING A HOUSE! AHHH!!

Ok okay, let’s talk details on how this all happened. I’m gonna make this as short and simple as possible because I’ll do a follow up blog post with more details.

  1. What the heck?– To this I say, I know, what the heck. We are 22/23 and buying a house together. Sounds insane and it probably is, but Gods timing > ours.
  2. Why?– So here’s a small little backstory, Conner lives in Dallas with his brother, and I’m still at home living with my mom. I always told myself I would live at home until I got married and my mom happily agreed it was okay to do, BUT, she’s also building and buying a new home too AHH!! So, this was a perfect time to move out PLUS Conner’s apartment lease is up in August so really the timing of this situation really came together. I’ll go more into detail later but essentially we both just decided to look at homes/places and an opportunity came up that we couldn’t pass up and WE ARE BUYING/BUILDING A HOUSE!
  3. How/Where?– A couple weeks ago we got a call from the DR Horton (our builder) and said we were next on the list to be called about a lot available. We looked at this community back in February, and told us there wasn’t anything available and would call us when there was something that came up. Well in the meantime we had looked at floorpans and settled on one we really loved (more later) so we put a hold check on the floorpan and like April 20th, we got the call saying if we were really in now was the time. We are going to be moving to Caddo Mills, which we are both super excited about. AHHH!!
  4. When?- Y’all this all happened so fast, I mean its been a total of 2 months since the beginning of this process to where we are now. CRAZY! So when I say we are building, we technically are. It’s going to be a brand new build, which is going to be so fun to watch the progress of. So we signed a contract on the house April 20th and if everything goes smoothly and there isn’t crazy hiccups we could be in the house as early as Mid September! We won’t officially know when right now but OMG- right around my birthday.
  5. What does this mean?– So this means we are building a house and our lives are about to change. Both Conner and I are extremely excited about this and so is both of our families, but we are also SO nervous about so many different aspects of this process. I know some of you might be like why house not an apartment? Why not rent instead of buy? I knew I wanted to buy instead of rent and I’ve been saving my pennies since I opened my savings account for this exact purpose and I cannot believe this is real life.

I have so many details to fill you in on since we signed the contract, what’s going to happen in the meantime, where we are going to live while this is being built, my thoughts an emotions on moving out and leaving my mom, the whole 9 yards. Im so happy the secret is finally out of the bag and I’m still so nervous and excited. The meaning SOLD now has a new meaning to both of us and is something we will always be able to say we accomplished. I’m beyond proud of conner and I’m very very very proud of myself. It’s an amazing feeling to say we are buying our first home together and we are so fortunate to be in this position so early in our lives.

SO WHAT’S NEXT?

Well, next up is giving you all the details about this crazy adventure. Home decor style, how to save money, what the moving process looks like, more home decor, ALL THE THINGS. If you are reading this still, thank you thank you. Please say a little prayer for Conner and I as we go into this next journey together and if you have ANY first time home buyer advice, you know where to find me!

LOVE LOVE LOVE life right now, see y’all very soon.

XOXO,

THE ONE WHERE I REVAMP

Wall located: 1313 N Riverfront Dallas, TX

Let’s revamp this creative space again, why don’t we! Hi everyone- it’s been long enough. I checked and the last time I was on this blog was June 2020. I don’t even wanna recap last year because we all know how that looked. INSANE. One thing I know for sure is that I want to revamp this blog, and SHARE SHARE SHARE. I am SO done with comparison, SO over feeling I have to be perfect all the time, and I’m SO ready to live MY life exactly how God intended me to live… through Him, and my through my own story. Can I get an AMEN! When I started this blog my junior year of college it was exciting and a lot of fun, and over time it quickly became a chore and I became less fun. I just had too many tabs open y’all, school and work is a full time task and I never wanted to resent starting this blog. There was so much pressure I had put on myself to handle this this and that and it was draining and totally not fun. Taking breaks is such a healthy thing to do and knowing your limits is amazing. I feel like Im in a place in my life now, where I don’t have too many distractions, I’m happy, and I’m feeling this fire inside of me to take this blog back and RIDE IT LIKE I STOLE IT!!!!!!!!

So what have I been up to since I was last on here? Let’s recap a little bit!

  • I got furloughed with Six Flags right when COVID hit hard. I cried and cried but I was okay. I watched my precious nephew that summer and it was the best.
  • I was out of a job for 4.5 months and in July, I got a call from Southern Roots to come back and run the creative and social, and it was one of the best decisions I made in 2020.
  • I started back at SR in August and it felt so good to be back, I picked up right where I left.
  • Holidays came around and it was all a 2020 blur- but SO fun with friends and family!
  • In January Conner and I both got Covid and quarantined together until we got better.
  • Southern Roots also announced that we were moving locations, and we opened in Feb!
  • We’ve all been smashing goals at SR in our new location.
  • Life has just been MOVING so fast. I cannot believe it’s May.

RECAP of some of my favorite looks from Southern Roots. Be sure you’re following us on instagram: @shopsouthernrootstx

Y’all know I could talk about every little detail on what events happened between June 2020 and May 2020, but I’ll spare the details and keep you up to date on what’s happening MOVING forward….. see y’all very soon. Like Friday soon!

XOXO!

21 Facts About Me

Hi there, friends! Thanks for stopping by, if you’re a new follower here or just an old one wondering what the heck I’m all about… I’m about to share some random facts about me. You may or may not care to know these things, but in case you do here goes nothing! I also think this is fun because one day I will look back on this blog post and either still relate to these facts, or it’s long gone. So really this is for me (HA)! I would really love to hear if you can relate to any of these facts! You also may be wondering why I chose 21 things… first fact about me: I am 21- my birthday is September 10th (any Virgos out there)?

  1. Like I just said, I am 21 years old! I absolutely love being born in September. And technically I am still a ‘summer’ baby, which is fun. I am a virgo and am reallllly into reading my horoscope. T R U E virgo over here!
  2. POV: you’re at a restaurant with me, eating breakfast/lunch/dinner, and you will see me put one or all of the following things on my food ALWAYS! Salt, Hot Sauce, or Red Pepper Flakes. I love spicy food! I always pick the spicy option. And always add salt. People in my life really get annoyed with this but it’s just how I am.
  3. My love language has always been words of affirmation. But the last 2 years of my life I can tell it has changed and I think I am more of an acts of service/receiving gifts type. I feel loved when people do things for me or gift me something that makes them think of me. If you want to know what your love language is here is the test I took!
  4. My parents got divorced right after I graduated high school (S/O to class of 2016). I still live in my childhood home with my sweet mama and step-dad. I am so thankful I am able to still live at home and save money!
  5. I have 5 more classes until I graduate college in December. I take all online classes at Texas A&M University- Commerce and will graduate with a bachelors degree in Marketing. I have been able to balance being a full-time college student and also working full-time. I will say I have had to give up a lot of personal/social time but its rewarding looking back and talking to people about how I can do it all.
  6. This one is very simple. Beach > Mountains
  7. I have a cute little white chihuahua named Topanga- she was a rescue and supposed to be a family dog but quickly turned into mine. She does not leave my side y’all + I am the only one she trusts/likes. She’s precious!!
  8. Pink is my favorite color! Which is funny because I don’t have a lot of pink clothes > but a ton of pink items if that makes sense.
  9. Back to food- I have to have the temperature of my food and drinks to be either extremely cold or extremely hot! I will heat my dinner up sometimes if it’s not hot enough.
  10. I stick to a pretty basic and loose form of the Keto diet. I have found that being on a low carb balance has helped me feel better, I have more energy, and my skin is way clearer. Blog post coming soon about what I eat and how I remain on keto.
  11. I have a few guilty pleasures: McDonalds, Jack in the Box tacos, rom-coms, and listening to my top 5 songs on repeat 100x in the car.
  12. My favorite thing to do is to sit on a patio on a sunny day with my family and friends, listening to good music. My family does this a lot and I love it.
  13. I tan very very easily. It’s so funny because my sister has very fair skin and when we lay out I am 500 shades darker than she ever gets.
  14. Conner is my boyfriend of 2.5 years! We have gone to school together since we were in 2nd grade and remained friends up until we started dating. He’s the very best!
  15. I have always been very athletic and try staying in shape best I can. I played club volleyball along with school volleyball 6th grade-my senior year! I would have loved to go to school to play volleyball but it just didn’t happen that way.
  16. I am a Christian. I am the furthest thing from perfect, and I do stray away sometimes. I just know we serve a BIG God and will always welcome you home. I have never fought with this- I have been a believer my whole life. It’s not easy, but it is something I wake up and believe in everyday. He > I.
  17. My music library consists of a lot of Texas country, 70s and 80s music, rock, Christian music, and a handful of rap. There isn’t anything I won’t listen to!
  18. I have a younger sister and an older brother and an amazing sister in law who check off all the sibling boxes. We are all super close and talk everyday in our group message. If it’s a trending topic in the world… we are talking about it.
  19. My top bucket list item is to travel to all 50 states. Pretty simple, but its something I want to be able to say I’ve done.
  20. I am a SOCIAL butterfly. I feel like one of my best personality traits is to be friendly to people, be approachable, and making friends. And plus I love talking.
  21. Aside from my own instagram I own 2 other accounts. One is a food blog and the other is my online boutique. I will be doing separate blogs about both accounts but you can follow them here and here!

WHEWWW! Do you think you know me any better? Do you share similar facts about yourself? Thanks for sticking around and if you’ve made it this far THANK YOU!! I want to hear some facts about you! Comment or message me on Instagram. Have a great day y’all!

XOXO

Dear Monday, I hope you brought wine

Hi friends! How’s everyone doing? This is such a crazy time right now. We are literally living in an event that will go down in the history books! In light of this pandemic we are in I thought it would be a good time to start this blog back up. I don’t know where the time went and why I had writers block but it happens. SO let’s get caught up on what’s been happening.

Right before we got sent into self quarantine, I was schooling and working! Then came the social distancing which included celebrating my sisters 19th birthday COVID-19 style. Filled with cake, donuts, cfa chicken minis, and cotton candy mimosas. Here’s a small recap of a birthday we will never forget!

We also got to celebrate St. Patty’s day, party of 1. Not much to report on that one just a mini product shoot with some of the best cookies ever!

Next came many nights of game night: Monopoly & Yahtzee! Learning how to cook new meals, indulging in everything in site, and countless walks around the neighborhood. FUN STUFF I KNOW.

I’m not going to lie, I thought in the beginning of this I would be self motivated and start working out, eating better, learn a new skill/hobby, and come up with some self care routines…. that has not happened. And I feel like that’s okay! We get caught up in going and going and going that when we have the time to relax we feel like we need to be going and going and going. We deserve to relax, or do any, and not have to feel bad about it. Now, don’t get lazy HAHA. But just remember it is okay to take time to yourself.

I have also had 4 weeks of doing enough to keep busy, but now I’m feeling motivated! SO here are some thoughts moving forward about what I want to get done:

  • Make a hair tutorial
  • Do a makeup/ skincare tutorial
  • Create a bible study to complete
  • Do an at home workout and share!
  • Get creative and do some fun photoshoot with home props/neighborhood finds
  • Get caught up on alllll my unfinished Netflix series
  • Tie dye a set & share!

The last thing to get caught up on is how Easter went! Usually we get with family and have a fish fry, sit outside and relax! But because we have to be self quarantined that’s not possible. BUT we created a new *tradition* French toast and quiche for breakfast, walks around the neighborhood, and sitting outside waving to new faces that walk by. I’m curious: what have you done in your stay at home time?🙌🏻☺️

Whelp, got to go take care of Conner (he just got his wisdom teeth out) and he needs a milkshake! Next time I write hopefully I will have more to share. Stay safe! Wash your hands! Stay home! Flatten the curve!

One day we will look back on all this and wonder why we dressed up like Lysol bottles.

XOXO!

YOU GOT THIS!✨

Hi friends! Happy January 74th I mean 30th. It feels like this month has just gone on and on and on and I’m ready for February! Mostly because we are one more month closer to spring which means alllll the bright fun colors to wear, moods always seem brighter, and the house feels cleaner. But until then, I’ll focus on what’s been going on now. As much as I’m SO ready to be out of January so many things have happened that make this month feel so rewarding and I feel so accomplished!

So here we are 1st month into a new decade, a new month, and new beginnings:

Coming into 2020 with G O A L S instead of New Years resolutions has been huge game changer for me this year. At first i was like well what’s the difference? Well lemme tell ya🍯. Goals: this is what a person aims for with a direction to follow, to achieve your results. Resolutions: are a decision not to do something or change something you don’t like. I say all this because when I started jotting down things I wanted for myself in the new year they were all things that I could aim for and work everyday or gradually become closer to, instead of changing or not doing. So here’s just a few of the things I wrote down:

  • Save money: my goal is to put a percentage of each paycheck in savings to meet my end of year $$ goal.
  • Keep only what is needed in your closet, room, bathroom: my goal is to prioritize my needs vs. my wants.
  • Finish up college: yes y’all I am still here but ALMOST done. 5 more classes and it’s PEACE OUT. My goal is to finish my last 2 semesters with a 4.0
  • To build the social media for Six Flags: this isn’t that personal, but my goal is to really build the brand voice and become more active on social!

So far so good y’all, these goals have really come into play this month. I have successfully saved more month this month by prioritizing what I really need vs what i really want. This one is HUGE for me. And it feels good to save. I’ve also cleaned my closet 3 times, and my mom and I have gone through every drawer, closet, room in the house to declutter and MAN does it feel refreshed. Once school started it was game on, I had such a terrible mindset about finishing and I wanted to give up, until my advisor sent me the pre graduation checklist and wooo I am determined to knock this last stretch out. And as far as my job, I loooove it!! It’s a slow and steady race to this goal but it will happen.

If you’re still reading: I love you! Thank you! Now let’s keep going!

With allllll of that being said, I cannot wait to see what else I can accomplish and strive for. It’s been a busy month but it is so rewarding when I can look back at my goals and be like: YOU GOT THIS! AND SO DO YOU! Which brings me to my next point. I know we are all in the same but different boat. I know we all have things we are battling or something we want to change. I know you may be comparing yourself to someone you see online. I know you might want to quit or give up. I know you have these resolutions and you keep saying oh maybe next month or tomorrow or next year. I know all this because i go through it too, and i see other people going through it. BUT I am here to tell you that if you can start off with 2/3 goals. Yes goals. That you can see end results from, y’all it is so rewarding. And who doesn’t love a challenge.

Now that was a little dramatic just now but seriously, write down your goals and go full force into reaching them. It’s only month 1/12 but if the rest of the year can have moments like this then I’m here for it. CHEERS to only having 2 more days of this looong month. See you in Feb!❤️

XOXO

Life

Day 23/365 is NOT too late to start your NY Resolutions!

Glow-Getter

(noun): a driven busy gal who strives to achieve her goals in life while attaining a beautiful glow both inside and out.

Today was the first day in January I was actually aware that this month was almost over. I mean, time just doesn’t slow down for anyone. While it may be day 23/365 I don’t remember there being a rule that you had to start your New Year Resolutions on day 1. Let’s just have an honest moment real fast… I didn’t have time to write down a fancy list of things I wish to accomplish this year and begin acting on them ASAP. Just wasn’t happening. Life moves faster and faster each year. And although the days may be long and the weekends fast, the year does go by WAY faster. Yes- I have many things I would like to ultimately achieve this year, but if you’re like me… you need small victories but big dreams. What I mean by that is, I don’t need to check everything off my list all at once. I feel much more accomplished scratching things off slowly, even when they are “small victories“. And then eventually all these little things add up to the bigger dream/ goal. So, here I am day 23 of 2019, making that fancy list of things that I HOPE to accomplish this year.

My advice to you for Day 24: make that fancy list of small victories. Drink more water. Make that 4.0 this semester. Work hard and then work harder. But most importantly, do it all for YOU! Here’s my NYR:

  1. I do drink quite a lot of water, but not enough. DRINK MORE WATER
  2. Be more patient with people
  3. Read more fashion blogs/magazines
  4. Stay on top of my school (I’m so close to finishing)
  5. Make more time for my friends- they keep me goin when things get tough
  6. Give more words of affirmation to Conner
  7. Make more time to do things with my little sister (she’s going off to college soon)
  8. Read my Bible WAY more!!! And not just read- but learn
  9. Start my blog & have people read it!!
  10. This one is a bonus: I’d like to give back more. Whether it be to a charity, back to the community, my church, or to my neighbors.

Thanks for letting me share with y’all my small victory checklist. I’d really love to hear yours- because it might inspire me to make my goals bigger. Comment on my blog post or message me on Instagram or Facebook!

Life

And so the journey begins…

So here we go… my first ever blog post! I hope whoever is reading will gain something from this, in hopes of one day going after your dreams!
